I'm walking 62 Miles in October to raise funds for Brooke

Every year, over 6 million donkeys are killed for their skins.

To make a gelatine like substance that is used in  cosmetics and beauty treatments. And even in Supplements and food.

The people who have their donkeys stolen from them rely on them to survive. They already live below the poverty line. Imagine having your livelihood stolen. Imagine losing your workmate and friend in this manner.
These people dont imagine it. They endure it. Their donkeys dont imagine it. They suffer and die for it. For a cosmetic or beauty item, or supplement sold to the western world. Leaving the people who rely on their four legged friend with even less to help them work and survive and no means to start again. Their animals stolen in the dead of night.

That's why I'm walking 62 miles this October for Brooke, the world's largest working equine welfare organisation.

Every mile I walk and every pound you donate will help expose this cruelty and protect donkeys from suffering and slaughter.

Please support my challenge if you can. Together, we can help create a future where donkeys are safe from the skin trade.

Thank you!

Weekend walkies with Mabel

Monday 12th Oct
We had a good weekend together, meeting up with my son, his partner and their lovely dog in a secured dog walk field. Several laps round made it a mile for this worthy cause😊
Then on Sunday Mabel and I had our usual venture afternoon, where I try to find some secluded places she can roam off lead without meeting other dogs, and where she can't run off as her recall is still unpredictable. Rescue dogs! Phew, hard work!! She actually did add a couple of hundred steps to my count as she took herself off and across a railway bridge, because some nice people have pinched the metal gate to keep the nature reserve secured and safe! Thankfully I got her back safely.
Thankyou everyone who has supported so far. I know some of you are giving me cash and the lovely team at Brooke have shared how I can enter this later and so it doesn't look like I've kept sponsoring myself! Lol. For those waiting for payday, like myself, there's still plenty of October left to donate for this very worthy cause. The African people, and their donkeys, really appreciate it. Helene

6 days in and going well! 😃

Wednesday 7th Oct
Hi everyone,
Walks are going well. Averaging 2 miles each work afternoon around the small park  just next door.
Then out again with Mabel each night, donning our hi-viz coats😄
Thankyou for all that have managed to donate so far. I know some are having issues but Brooke are working with me to resolve them.
Catch up with you all again soon
